Dual-Fuel - When Two Fuels are Better Than One
What Does Dual-Fuel Mean?
Dual-Fuel means using two fuels to heat instead of one. In most cases, this means combining a high efficient electric heat pump with a fossil fuel furnace (natural gas, propane or oil). A heat pump is a unit that will heat your space in the winter and cool it efficiently in the summer. During mild winter temperatures, 80% of our winters are mild, the heat pump operates at an incredible 200 to 300 percent efficiency. During the coldest times, the fossil fuel furnace burns at it's greatest efficiency. By using these two sources of heat, you can heat for less. An outdoor sensing thermostat will activate which ever unit will heat most efficiently.
